I know there are still some submissions coming in for this opening jam session, but I felt it only proper to kick off this group with the entry "
Ex Nihil":
It's not turtles all the way down. Reality abhors a void... and infinity as well. Without going too heavily into the alchemy of this, everything must have once started in a void. The question is how to make something out of nothing. Quantum physics has found proof for what alchemy stated long ago: you can't create something out of nothing. But you can break up nothingness into equal parts negative and positive. The same process occurs in a blackhole's event horizon. Every action requires an immediate and inverse reaction. Nothingness can be subdivided as so:
0 = +1-1
It is still nothing, there is only a positive "some" of that nothing and a negative "some". Reality ends when the equation is solved. The more complex the equation, the longer the solution takes.
This particular breakdown
here is of the polar opposites Love and Fear, a favored emotional study in alchemy. Every child knows that what you love you want to be near to, and what you fear you want to be far from. These are the most simple emotional definitions of these polar opposites, formed long before cultures have infected the child's mind with other definitions; sometimes elegant, sometimes perverse, yet always lacking when compared to either of these primal emotions when taken in their undistilled state.
This study is also how to approach both in a manner that is generative, instead of swimming upstream. To overcome Fear, it must be embraced (Greater Negative met with Lesser Positive). To possess Love, it must be released (Greater Positive met with lesser Negative). In both situations, inherent weaknesses are turned to strengths and aligned with universal constants.
Ex nihil... ad infinitum.
